Receive matched job ads and job activities tailored to your profile

I identified pain points in the job matching profile through user feedback and data, then designed a smoother, more intuitive experience. By collaborating with teams and testing with users, I helped create a solution that makes job searches easier and more effective.
Background
TRR previously offered a matching profile system to help laid-off individuals outline their job aspirations. However, the system underperformed, with significantly fewer active profiles than anticipated – a clear indicator of low user engagement.

Research revealed two primary issues. First, users felt the system lacked clarity and did not effectively highlight the benefits of creating a profile, leaving them unmotivated to engage. Second, users were left without a clear next step once a profile was set up, resulting in frustration and disengagement. This lack of guided progression reduced the system’s perceived value and limited its effectiveness in connecting users with job opportunities.

Addressing these challenges is essential to enhancing the system’s ability to support users in their job search and driving better engagement and outcomes.

  • Research
    By analyzing user behaviour data and key metrics, alongside feedback gathered from surveys and interviews, we identified critical issues with our matching profile system.

    These insights highlighted gaps in user engagement and revealed obstacles preventing effective job searches. As a result, we prioritized enhancing the profile creation experience and optimizing the system to drive better job search outcomes for users.

  • Ideation
    Based on the insights, I crafted a story map that outlined a high-level user experience across various touchpoints. This narrative served as a foundation for gathering ideas from the product team and soliciting internal feedback.

    By visualizing the improved user flow, I facilitated collaboration and ensured alignment on the direction of the new experience, paving the way for more refined and user-centered solutions.

  • Design, prototyping and gain feedback
    With the story map as a foundation, I designed the new creation flow for the matching profile, incorporating nudges to guide users through the process and ensure clarity at every step. A key focus was identifying how to deliver immediate value after profile creation, keeping users engaged and motivated.

    I collaborated closely with the product development teams to align on technical feasibility and ensure the design was ready for smooth implementation. This partnership helped bridge the gap between concept and development, ensuring the final solution was user-centred and practical. I also conducted user tests to gain real user feedback and inform design iterations.

  • Implementation
    During this phase, I worked closely with developers and our UX content creator to finalize content and ensure alignment with the design. I conducted regular design reviews and made adjustments whenever unforeseen technical challenges arose.

    This proactive, collaborative approach allowed us to address issues swiftly and ensured the delivery of user improvements in the most efficient and seamless way possible.

  • Go Live
    As we prepare to launch the solution, I collaborate closely with the product owner, UX content creator, and key stakeholders to ensure a smooth and cohesive rollout. I contribute by shaping the key messaging and refining the narrative, ensuring the product’s value is clearly communicated. This work helps establish a strong foundation for user adoption and sets the stage for the product’s long-term success.

  • Continuous improvements
    The improved experience delivered outstanding results: the number of Matching Profiles significantly increased, and the new Matched Jobs feature quickly became the most popular service. Through analysis, we also identified and resolved a key drop-off point in the profile creation flow, implementing further enhancements to create a smoother, more engaging user journey.
