Enhancing profile engagement to boost job matching

I conducted user interviews and surveys to uncover challenges with the matching profile feature, revealing a need for a more seamless experience. Using these insights, I mapped user journeys, created prototypes in Figma, and collaborated with the product team to simplify profile creation and updates. During implementation, I worked closely with developers, providing detailed specs and refining designs to ensure a smooth and intuitive user experience.
Background
User research reveals that many users find it challenging to enter the right matching criteria in their profiles and rarely update them. This leads to missed job opportunities, irrelevant job suggestions, and a less effective job search. Outdated profiles also diminish users' visibility to employers, reducing their chances of being considered for suitable roles.

To address this, we are developing a solution that simplifies the process by offering tailored suggestions based on users' job search history and uploaded CVs. This approach encourages users to keep their profiles up-to-date and accurate, resulting in more relevant job matches and higher engagement. By enhancing the user experience, we aim to improve job search success and help users connect with the right opportunities more efficiently.
My contribution in this initiative
  • Research
    I conducted one-on-one interviews to uncover user experiences, challenges, and motivations related to the matching profile feature. To complement this, I distributed surveys to gather quantitative data on profile completion and analyzed user behaviour around profile update frequency. This combination provided a comprehensive understanding of user needs and behaviours.
    One key insight we decided to act on was users' difficulty creating and updating their profiles, highlighting the need for a more seamless and intuitive experience.

  • Design and iterate
    In the next phase, I focused on transforming research insights into practical design solutions. I began by mapping user journeys to highlight pain points and opportunities. I created wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes in Figma, exploring solutions that simplified the profile creation process for first-time users while encouraging existing users to update their profiles regularly.
    Collaboration played a central role in this phase. I worked closely with the product team and developers, iterating on the design. By the end of this phase, I delivered a high-fidelity prototype that effectively addressed user pain points, streamlined profile creation, and made updates easier.

  • Implementation
    During the implementation phase, I collaborated closely with developers to ensure seamless execution of the design. I provided detailed design specifications and interactive prototypes in Figma, ensuring every element aligned with the intended user experience.
    I conducted regular design reviews, addressing any technical constraints by adapting and refining the design without compromising the core user flow.
